At the luxurious Spa by Lora locations in the Bucktown neighborhood of Chicago and the Ravinia neighborhood of Highland Park, Illinois, you can add services such as chemical peels, dermaplaning, and microdermabrasion to your facial treatments. These non-invasive facial add-ons exfoliate to remove the uppermost layers of your skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and stimulating fresh cell growth, giving you a young and fresh look.
You can add deep exfoliation treatments like chemical peels, dermaplaning, and microdermabrasion to your facial and laser treatments suggested by Lora. These exfoliation methods remove the top layer of old, dry skin cells, revealing the fresh new skin growing underneath. They also stimulate collagen production which helps to plump and replenish your skin from the inside.
Microdermabrasion is a chemical-free, non-invasive cosmetic treatment that reduces the appearance of signs of aging from your face, neck, and/or chest. Lora uses a handheld device to carefully spray microcrystals over your skin, sloughing away the uppermost layer of dry and dead skin cells revealing the smooth, fresh skin underneath.
The device has a gentle vacuum as well as the spray function. As the microcrystals exfoliate your skin, removing old dry skin cells, the handheld device carefully sucks up the microcrystals and your old skin cells.
A chemical peel is a deep exfoliation treatment where Lora applies an acid solution to your face, neck, chest, and/or hands. She uses solutions including glycolic acid, salicylic acid, or lactic acid, which causes the top layer of your skin to peel away to reveal the fresh new skin underneath.
During the treatment, you may feel a warm, slightly stinging sensation. After Lora removes the solution, she applies a cold compress to soothe your skin.
Dermaplaning is an excellent treatment to reduce the appearance of scarring and smooth rough skin texture. Lora uses a sterile razor to gently shave way those old, dry cells, revealing your fresh new skin.
In addition to removing the top layer of old skin cells, dermaplaning also stimulates cell regeneration process and allows skin care products to better penetrate your skin. Dermaplaning isn’t painful, although you may experience skin sensitivity for a day or so following treatment.
Chemical peels, dermaplaning, and microdermabrasion help reduce the appearance of skin concerns, including:
These treatments not only provide a strong exfoliation, which evens out your skin tone and reduces the appearance of discoloration, but it also reveals fresh, new skin that has higher levels of collagen and elastin. These are the fibers that keep your skin smooth and plump. Unfortunately, as you get older, your body produces less collagen and elastin.
Lora will give you specific instructions on taking care of your skin after a chemical peel, dermaplaning, or microdermabrasion. You should take care to avoid the sun, especially as many sunscreens may not be gentle enough to use following treatment. Lora suggests specific cleansers and moisturizers to protect your skin and help to maximize the effects of treatment.
